FULL RESTORED, Number Matching
European Titled, Ready for F.I.A.
This Porsche 904 GTS with still original Engine and Transmission was delivered to Sonauto in Paris in 1964. The first owner, "Barbier", likely
had an accident. Right before the "Coupe the Alps" in 1965, the car was replaced with a completely new 904 in which the original Engine and
Transmission was installed by the Porsche Factory. This car had central fuel filler and short doors, and this version was first built late in 1964.
It was the stronger and more advanced model with all factory recommended changes and reinforcements. Such replacement exchanges of wrecked 904's ,
where the original engine/transmission and chassis number was transferred to a new model, were not unusual of the Porsche Factory.
This car started several rallies and races in France, one of which was the Tour de Corse. In January 1998, Mr. J.S from Frankfurt/M obtained the car
in original, accident free and unrestored condition and had it completely restored by a fiberglass specialist. The engine and transmission was
completely rebuilt by Mr. Hloch, a world renowned 4-cam specialist. During my visit of the restoration as a consultant, I could fully verify the
historical validity as well as the correct restoration. The current owner in England had several successful FIA events and the car is in perfect,
historically correct condition. With 2006 TUV, German Title and at that time English registration, the car is ready to race. Built for FIA events, it has
a roll bar, 6-point harness, fire extinguisher and more.
